Long Island Pit Stop rescues pit bulls from the euthanasia lists at the Center for Animal Care Control and recently, the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter. We have also taken in pitbulls found abandoned in forclosed homes, tied to rooftops in the Bronx, owner arrests, strays found by the police on the highways. We provide all of the medical assistance for these animals while boarding them until we can find their forever home. In the past year and a half, LIPS has rescued and re-homed over 170 animals.
